Studying many subjects can be confusing and difficult especially when you are self studying. Today i am going to be sharing some tips to manage your subjects and giving each of them sufficient time.
Deciding the difficulty of the subjects
Some subjects might be very difficult for you and some might be easy. There are also some subjects which are of medium difficulty. Deciding the difficulty level of the subjects is the first step.
You can make 3 or more categories/groups of your subjects. (HARD/MEDIUM/EASY) Or (DIFFICULT/NEUTRAL/SIMPLE) are some options.
This questions list might be helpful while making the list.
Which subject(s) is/are difficult for you to understand? (add to difficult)
Which subject(s) takes most of your time while studying? (add to difficult)
Which subject(s) takes the least of your time while studying? (add to easy)
you can add the the subjects which aren`t the answer of these questions in the medium list
Once you have decided the difficulty of the subjects you know that which subjects are to be given the maximum time and which the minimum.
Calculate the syllabus
J ust as the difficulty level of the subjects is different, the syllabus can be different too. After you have decided the difficulty
level, start calculating the syllabus
for this semester.
Manage the timetable as per the syllabus. for example, if you have 3 subjects in your difficult category, like, Physics, Algebra and Biology. physics has 5 chapters, Algebra has 7 chapters and Biology has 8 chapters. You know which one to take up first. Biology, once you are done with biology start algebra and than physics. You can also do the same for the medium and easy category.
If your easy category has a subject which has many chapters and you think that it will need more time, move it up to medium category.
Time management
Once you have taken all the following in consideration, you can start preparing the timetable. For making the timetable you should calculate the time you have everyday for studying. In a day, keeping minimum 1 difficult or high syllabus subject is compulsory. If you have 4 hours to study, you can distribute it by one difficult subject for 2 hours, one medium for 1 hour and 1 easy for one hour. While making a timetable, do not forget take the breaks and classes into consideration.
Effective tips
Here are some tips while studying,
Effective notes-
You might have seen those beautiful, neat, aesthetic and satisfying notes videos and photos, right? After watching those you start wondering why your notes aren`t like that. And then you spend hours on making those beautiful and aesthetic notes. Frankly speaking, I used to make those notes spending a lot of time and energy but later i realized that it was not necessary at all. You can just make notes that are easy to understand, and cover all of the important points in forms. You can make beautiful notes too but i prefer making notes in lesser time.
Revision cards
Making revision cards is also a very effective way of having revisions, you can make these while taking notes, so it will be easy for you to make it without spending a lot of time searching for important points. Keep in mind that make the cards only for important points and cover most of the points in lesser cards.
This is an example of a timetable
Day | 8am to 9am | 9 am to 9:15 am | 9:15 am to 10 am | 4 pm to 5 pm | 5pm to 5:15 pm | 5:15 pm to 6 pm | 8 pm to 9 pm |
monday | difficult subject 1 | 15 minutes break | difficult subject 1 | medium subject 1 | 15 minutes break | easy subject 1 | notes taking |
tuesday | difficult subject 2 | 15 minutes break | difficult subject 2 | medium subject 2 | 15 minutes break | easy subject2 | notes taking |
